Out-of-Coverage
One common concern for a work alone solution, is for the ability for staff to be able to Check-In to the monitoring service in areas with poor/spotty Cellular coverage, or complete lack of cellular coverage.
SafetyLine is familiar with these situations and is able to offer several solutions. It should be noted that in cases of device solutions, staff may switch seamlessly between different devices with SafetyLine for changing areas of coverage/no-coverage.
Please see below for some available solutions:
Protocol Solution:
SafetyLine is based on a Check-In service whereby staff are required to report OK before certain time intervals. However, this reporting is totally flexible and staf can check-in any time before a report interval. This means staff are able to perform check-ins whenever in an area of available coverage, instead of at exact times.
Staff may also alter report interval times on the fly. This means that if a staff is entering in to an area of poor/no coverage for an expected period of time, then he/she may alter report intervals to adjust accordingly.
This solution is typically better suited for areas of poor/spotty coverage (as opposed to ‘no’ coverage). However, it does provide a compliant, and realistic solution where coverage is only a minor issue, outweighed by budget concerns.
SPOT Satellite Messenger:
The SPOT satellite messenger device is a low-cost hardware solution for staff outside of cellular coverage. It is easily integrated with SafetyLine for any User account. The SPOT device communicates via the Satellite network, and is GPS enabled.
