SafetyLine Lone Worker Completes SOC 2 Type II Certification

SafetyLine Lone Worker has completed the SOC 2 Type II audit by meeting rigorous security, availability, and confidentiality standards.

SafetyLine Lone Worker is proud to announce it has successfully completed the System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type II examination in recognition of its commitment to information security. Developed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), SOC 2 (System and Organization Controls) defines criteria for managing customer data based on five “trust service principles” — security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.

A SOC 2 examination provides organizations with a report on an organization’s internal controls and how it protects customer data and sensitive information. It is the standard for data security among digital companies in the U.S.

What is a SOC 2 Type II audit?

For software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies, SOC 2 is widely regarded as the pinnacle of security compliance. It necessitates that companies create and adhere to stringent policies and procedures to ensure the safety, accessibility, and confidentiality of customer data.

Our successful completion of the SOC 2 Type II audit indicates that SafetyLine has consistently upheld processes and practices that meet the necessary standards for oversight and monitoring. This allows SafetyLine to identify and address any unusual activity proactively.

Why does SOC 2 compliance matter?

An independent auditor, Insight Assurance, conducted the detailed examination. Through this process, SafetyLine Lone Worker demonstrated its adherence to data security, availability, and confidentiality standards developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

With its SOC 2 recognition, SafetyLine Lone Worker not only protects the safety of its customers’ data today but demonstrates that it has set the right standards in place for the future.

To earn SOC 2 certification, SafetyLine Lone Worker completed the following over a 3-month period (Sept - December 2022):

  • Assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of SafetyLine Lone Worker controls

  • Thorough examination of security of vendors and third parties

  • Defined policies to ensure continued protection for customers and employees

"At SafetyLine Lone Worker, are thrilled to take this significant leap towards enhancing our data protection measures. Obtaining the SOC-2 Type II compliance marks our unwavering dedication to upholding the utmost standards of confidentiality, integrity, and availability for our clients," expresses Gabriel Caldwell, Chief Technology Officer. “Our SOC 2 Type II certification assures our current patrons that we are committed to making all necessary investments to establish and uphold the highest level of security and compliance."

High standards of excellence

As a result of the audit’s recommendations, SafetyLine bolstered its portfolio of information security policies, including a proactive third-party Management Policy and an exhaustive Information Security Policy that addresses a wide range of considerations from password security to technology and device disposal.

Beyond information security, this certification is consistent with SafetyLine’s high standards for excellence, which also resonate internally with annual performance reviews of its team members and regular professional development training for those people. (All SafetyLine employees also use its worker safety app.)

Additionally, the road to SOC 2 Type II certification included an assessment of the company’s internal controls and processes, providing invaluable recommendations for improvements in customer data safety and risk management, and more cost-efficient, standardized assessment and reporting on SafetyLine’s security and privacy controls.
