Making a Difference: Our December 2022 Season of Giving Donation Campaign Recap
As we reflect on the success of our December 2022 Season of Giving Donation campaign, we are filled with overwhelming gratitude for the outpouring of love and support we received. We are thrilled to share that our efforts will be making a positive impact in the lives of many as we donate $1,250 to four incredible non-profit organizations, including:
Canadian Mental Health Association - Sudbury/Manitoulin
Compassion House Foundation
BC Association of Pregnancy Outreach Programs
The Bridge Youth & Family Services Canada
We received 100s of nominations, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and submitted these organizations. Your support means the world to us; we couldn't have done it without you.
In our mission to give back, we reached out to each of these organizations and learned about their inspiring stories and missions. We are honored to support their efforts and share their impact with our community.
Canadian Mental Health Association - Sudbury/Manitoulin
The Canadian Mental Health Association – Sudbury/Manitoulin (CMHA-S/M) was established in 1984 and is a not-for-profit organization with a volunteer board of directors. With a vision of thriving communities that nurture recovery, resilience, and hope for all, CMHA employs a person-centered approach to service delivery. CMHA aims to support healthy people and communities through advocacy and by providing safe, inclusive, and accessible mental health and addiction services.
CMHA-S/M offers nine programs and services that cover a broad spectrum of needs in our community, and we are always working to improve and expand our programs. This generous donation from SafetyLine’s annual Season of Giving campaign will support the addition of a small outdoor space for one of our programs.
The Healing with Hope home is staffed full-time with qualified medical and social support personnel overseeing individuals to ensure that day-to-day and primary care needs are met. They strive to create a setting that truly feels like home for those who live there in residential programs. The outdoor space at the Healing with Hope home will help to provide refuge for residents in a welcoming and secure outdoor space throughout their recovery journey.
The Compassion House
Founded in 1998, Compassion House Foundation is a nonprofit, charitable organization based in Edmonton.
The Compassion House's mission is to ease the distress of the cancer journey for women by providing safe, comfortable, and affordable accommodations and delivering much-needed programs and services post-treatment.
Since Sorrentino's Compassion House first opened in 2002, they have served hundreds of women and their families every year from communities across Western Canada who must leave their homes for cancer care in Edmonton.
The Compassion House offers 16 guest suites for as low as $35 a night, helping to reduce some of the financial burdens of cancer treatment. Their amenities include a fully-equipped kitchen with storage for groceries, comfortable common seating areas, an outdoor garden patio, a fitness room, laundry facilities, books/puzzles/games/craft supplies, 24-hour staffing, an alarm system, and free shuttle service to the Cross Cancer Institute.
The foundation is completely donor-funded. Thanks to their generous community of donors, Compassion House can continue providing a safe haven for women battling cancer.
BC Association of Pregnancy Outreach Programs
BCAPOP is a registered charity with over 80 Program Members and over 550 perinatal professionals and peers, each unique in their approach, services, and populations served. BCAPOP is widely recognized for its support, advocacy, and leadership to improve outcomes for pregnant, postpartum, and newly parenting people and their infants. BCAPOP achieves this by distributing prenatal vitamins & resources to non-profit perinatal programs in BC, providing training, resources, and events for helping professionals & peers, and responding to gaps in services with special projects. Two programs that BCAPOP is most proud of include the Healthy Care Pregnancy Pilot Project and the Pregnancy HUB.
Their Healthy Care Pregnancy Program (HCPP) aims to support better pregnant, postpartum, and newly parenting people who use or have used substances. It creates and utilizes formal connections between acute care facilities and community organizations that are also BCAPOP Program Members. This program was designed and implemented in collaboration with the Provincial Perinatal Substance Use Program, BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre, and Provincial Health Services Authority.
Their Pregnancy HUB virtual program offers participants unlimited access to local pregnancy outreach programs and service referrals, a virtual library full of evidence-based information, a monthly newsletter, and access to virtual programming on pregnancy and early parenting topics. This program is free for all pregnant, postpartum, and newly parenting people in BC.
SafetyLine is thrilled that the BCAPOP was nominated and selected as a Season of Giving Donation Recipient. Donations and support allow them to continue their mission and improve outcomes for pregnant, postpartum, and newly parenting families across BC.
