Crossroads Hospice Society

Since 1988, Crossroads Hospice Society has been honored to serve the communities of Anmore, Belcarra, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody. The non-profit society supports its communities in three ways: through its 10-bed hospice residence, its grief and loss support services, and a thrift store.

They believe the end of life does not have to be scary, painful, or lonely. Society believes that no one has to walk their grief journey alone; they are committed to educating our communities about death, dying, and grief. Crossroads Hospice Society cares for its communities with compassion, respect, dignity, and integrity through the programs and services it delivers.

The Crossroads Hospice Society Mission

  • To provide compassionate care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

  • To support youth and adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

Capilano Community Services Society

Capilano Community Services Society (CCSS) is a non-profit charitable organization that has served residents of the three North Shore municipalities for over 50 years. CCSS holds a vision of Thriving People, Healthy Communities. Their mission is to build community on the North Shore by creating opportunities for people to connect, collaborate, and support one another.

Operating with a lens of equity, diversity, and inclusion, they create opportunities for social connectedness, support healthy childhood development and healthy aging, improve individual well-being and resiliency, and promote community belonging.

The society offers over 30 free-of-charge and by donation, social, educational, and recreational programs, in addition to support services. Their programming is available to North Shore residents of all ages, with a focus on individuals who are vulnerable and living in conditions of risk. They also operate the North Shore’s Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP), providing free short-term loans of mobility assistance equipment to those recovering from illness or injury.

In partnership with community groups, community organizations, and local Indigenous communities, CCSS can effectively identify service gaps and collaborate with our partners to offer responsive programming and build capacity across the North Shore.

At present, Nourish Cowichan boasts a dedicated team of over 70 volunteers committed to ensuring that 1,800 children across 23 schools receive nourishing meals, all at no cost to the schools of SD79. Beyond daily meals, the organization extends its impact by providing non-perishable weekend grocery bags to support students in need.

Their primary focus is providing school meals to students, focusing on food equity advocacy, sharing knowledge with other school food programs across BC and Canada, building sustainability food sources, and mapping a way to universal food programs for children in their community.
